| | since i updated here. my xanga blog has pretty much dead up till now, and it's almost of no use anymore, but since i found something i want to blog about, i guess it wouldn't hurt to have a new post, right? how is everyone doing? my left shift key sucks right now, but i hope everyone else is doing better than it. so, for today's topic: a new korean drama that i'm actually (obsessing would be too extreme a word) anxious to see more of. i tend to not follow popular trends for just about everything nowadays, but i guess my online life is not getting any more interesting, so i looked into the korean drama 'boys over flowers' that's been sweeping the world by storm - i kid you not, just about every other banner and icon i see on soompi is BOF related, not to mention just about every video hosting site, such as crunchyroll, mysoju, dramacrazy, and viikii are swamped with traffic so bad that it's crammed and jammed up as bad as los angeles highways on a monday morning. so i'm thinking, wow, the 'boys over flowers' drama/storyline/manga+whateverbecameofit is cliche to the max and everything about it is pretty much a treasure chest for the typical starry-eyed teenage girl dreamer who is always waiting for that prince, who is, of course, a rich and spoiled single child of a wealthy and powerful family. the prince does not begin to have humanlike attributes until he meets the girl and slowly (at snail's pace) falls in love with her, and yada yada, the friends and the overdramatization of every little thing (including the family). i'm also thinking i'd never bother with this kinda stuff cause i surely did not bother with crap like 'my girl' and 'goong'. the heroine is somehow always always stupid and i cannot stand stupid heroines who falls into a disordered routine just because she was too dumb in the first place. the last full drama i actually watched and finished was 'i am sam' and that was because they had interesting characters and the heorine was not utterly retarded and stupid (although geumjandi comes close). i've attempted just about every stupid drama that eric mun has been in, but failed to finish them simply because the scripts suck. most of hyunbin's drama's suck, too. 'my lovely samsoon' is probably his best ever, because his latest drama 'worlds within' sucks effortlessly with flying colors. such a shame. but i did put up with the first few parts of the first episode, and the characters were attractive (i don't mean physically, not completely) and entertaining enough to retain me till the end of the entire episode so that i would actually make an effort to hunt down the english subbed links for the next episode. so basically for the past two nights, i've been watching 'boys over flowers' on viikii.net non-stop, and now that i am caught up with all 8 episodes, i have officially fallen in with the rest of the insane, BOF-anxious addicts who are about to go crazy while suffering badly from BOF withdrawals. i skim viewer's comments once in a while and the times recorded for these posts are hour by hour, and some even just minutes away from a new episode airing in korea (which will be shortly coverted and subbed and uploaded onto these sites). it's kind of scary just how devoted some of these people are; the distributors and producers should be afraid of the abilities of these onliners - they have serious competition. i'm actually not as crazy as hardcore BOF fans, but in a sense, i am kinda liking the drama and the actors. the actresses and their shit hairstyles could go to hell for all i care. but for what it's worth, the boys are cute as hell, and you don't have to like the non-reality/believability factors of the drama to enjoy it; everything else is simply eyecandy. from a person who does not dig highschool storylines, younger men, ditz heroines, and the drama of dramas, 'boys over flowers' isn't as bad as i thought it would be (i've grown cynical, ok?), and i do recommend it for anyone who is willing to try something rediculously popular every once in a while. with that being said, i shall now return to my anxious state-of-being where the rest of the gujunpyo-brainwashed fangirls camp. don't judge me. |
